Paris Fashion Week

I don't know about you, but when I hear the words Paris Fashion Week my mind thinks of catwalks, amazing designs, and tall haughty lanky women who look fabulous no matter what they're wearing.

The designers come from all around the world, some of them have their own design house or even store in Paris, and this is considered to be the heart of all fashion.

Fashion Week is actually several weeks, each for a different type of fashion - Mens', Haute Couture and Ready-To-Wear.

When:  Jan 2009 (annual)
Where:  Carrousel du Louvre
Cost:  Free admission (by invitation only)
Opening Hours:  Hourly catwalk shows 10am-7pm

What a great job to fly around the world to watch the latest catwalk trends - where do I sign up? 

First comes the catwalk shows in New York, London and Milan quickly followed by the most famous - the Paris fashion shows at the Carrousel du Louvre [yes, THAT Louvre].

2008 - 17-20 January:   Menswear Fashion Week in Paris

2008 - 21-24 January:   Haute Couture ["high fashion"] Fashion Week in Paris 

With just one day's break between each show, there's a lot to see and take in!

Unless you know someone in the fashion industry, chances of getting tickets to a Paris fashion show during any fashion week is pretty slim - admittance is strictly reserved for fashion professionals only, so check out all your networks and see if you can get an invitation :-)

When I lived in Paris the first time, I was surrounded daily by beautiful French women and I was constantly aware of the gorgeous fashion in Paris.  I really never ever thought I could be part of Paris fashion week, but everything's possible if you want it enough. Sign up for Newsletters on fashion websites which discuss the Paris fashion shows and participate in fashion forums to get advanced info on the fashion shows - it may be a way to get that elusive invitation.  Good luck!
