Paris Market : Produce

One of the things I love so dearly about Paris is that there is so much fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, available every day of the week.

While living in the USA and Australia I really tired of buying fruit and vegetables which had been in cold storage for months, then sold in the shops, and which then rapidly deteriorated.  Everyone I know experienced the same thing, and we all threw out so much food which didn't even last 3-4 days.

Markets in Paris - fruit

So enjoy this superbly wonderful opportunity in the Paris markets to buy the freshest you can get, I know I do!

When I lived in rue St Antoine in the 4eme, all I had to do was step outside my building  and mosey down to the market on Wednesdays or Saturdays.  Living up 3 flights of stairs meant buying fresh food daily, and splurging at the twice weekly markets.  I think this is a much better way to live than going to a huge supermarket once or twice a month and buying not-so-very-fresh food.

Getting to know the local market people can also be a joy, a new bunch of people to joke with and share camaraderie ... try it, you'll like it!
