Paris City Map 75012 : 12th District : 12eme Arrondissement 

Paris City Map 75012 :  The 12th arrondissement from the Bastille monument (Place de la Bastille) to the Bois de Vincennes is mostly residential but has become revamped and trendy since the building of the L'Opera-Bastille. 

The Bastille Opera was built by the architect Carlos Ott and inaugurated on July 14, 1989.

The Opera House was built to bring opera to all people at reasonable prices.

Viaduc des Arts

Just south of the Bastille Opera was a former railway viaduct -- it has now been converted into the most marvellous craftsmen’s stores and super design boutiques. Above the Viaduct is a wonderful elevated park -  Promenade Plante - which stretches from the Bastille monument to the Bois de Vincennes. A fabulous place to spend a few hours.

Place d' Aligre

At Place d' Aligre you'll find an excellent busy fruit and vegetable market every morning as well as a covered market and small flea-market (Marche aux Puces) in the mornings where you can occasionally obtain a bargain. Open hours: Tue-Sat 8am-1pm and 4-7:30pm; sun 8am-1pm.

Gare de Lyon

In the south of the 12th district and near the River Seine, you'll find the Gare de Lyon with its famous restaurant - 'Le Train Bleu' - built at the time of the Paris Exhibition of 1900.
