What to do or where to go on New Years in Paris?

HELP!!! We will be in Paris for New Year's and have absolutely NO IDEA what to do or where to go!?!?! Any suggestions??? Also, I know that most things will be closed on January 1 - suggestions for things to do that day before we leave???

Your help will be greatly appreciated!
