My secret about Paris ...

and why I made this website

Part of my secret about Paris is that I love it.

There - I've said it out loud.

I LOVE PARIS!!

I visited Paris many years ago and was so so lucky to be able to live there for several years and fall in love with her totally.

I've gone back to visit many times, the most recent was for the month of June 2007, and I caught up with old friends, made some new ones, and explored lots of new areas. There's ALWAYS something to explore in Paris!

Just before my last trip, I started to gather tons of notes about things I wanted to do, and I thought it would be a great idea to put all my info into a website so I could share it - for free - with lots of other people. I find something new to love about Paris on every trip, and this last one was no exception.

On that trip I decided to spend June in Paris every year [not too hot] and pop back whenever possible.  I even decided to incorporate one of my other passions - teaching silk painting classes - in Paris.  And to have this website bring in some income to help finance my other passions ...

I love to travel ... I love foreign cultures, I love meeting new people and being adventurous and learning to survive in other places.

It all started when I first left Australia. I was recently divorced and uncertain as to how my life would unfold ... little did I know what the Universe had in store for me!

I put my life in storage and took off for 6 weeks to the USA [I was living in Australia at the time]. From one day to the next I never knew what was going to happen, I let life 'happen' to me, I was open to new experiences and opportunities, and have to say that when I returned to Australia SEVEN YEARS LATER, I felt pretty good [that's right - I was gone for 7 years!]. I'd gone from a really nervous first-time flyer, to a world traveller with amazing stories to tell.

I'd lived in and travelled to New Zealand, Alaska, USA, Mauritius, France, Canada, Germany, Austria, Singapore, Spain, Italy, Bali, Hong Kong, Greece, Switzerland, Haiti, Aruba, Curacao ... just to name a few places :-)

I've been writing a newsletter for friends for years, called TROPICAL TRASH, with updates on my travels and adventures as they happen, and over the past few years many friends suggested I turn this into a website or a blog. I didn't take their advice - then - and continued to travel and revisit friends I'd made overseas.

In the meantime I followed one of my other passions ... 

I started a business to help small businesses get online by providing internet hosting, domain names and website solutions. I love helping people succeed, and I enjoyed working from home; every now and then I'd be offered a Contract to work with a client for a few weeks or months, and I liked the change, interacting with others in the workplace. It was those times that reminded me of my dream ... to be able to travel and have enough money to do so without needing to be paid by the hour.

I was always scanning the internet looking for solutions for my clients, and secretly looking for a solution to make my own dreams come true. Helping people, being able to travel whenever I wanted, and to have a regular income via the internet ... these were all part of my dream.

My Secret about Paris

I'd been reading about a website development system for about five years, and I'd researched the successes his customers were having, but was never quite ready to try it out for myself.

In March 2007 I decided to investigate further, and everything I read about this company instilled such a sense of confidence in me about the system, that I decided to give it a go.

I created the first 'live' webpage of this very website on 8th April, and within a week I started to get targetted traffic - I was amazed! [Targetted traffic is when people visit your site who've actually searched for words and content which appear on your pages, rather than finding your website by mistake.]

I've built many other websites over the past 15 years, but had never seen results so quickly. I was following the Action Guide step-by-step, as instructed, and put aside all my 'old' knowledge of how to build sites. I stuck to the instructions carefully, deciding it was best to give these new techniques a chance, and see where it led.

Well here we are, a few short months later, and even though I was overseas for a month and didn't touch my site, my traffic has increased and I'm thrilled. Now I'm getting regular traffic each day which includes plenty of unique visitors each day ['unique' is where one person is counted as one visit, even if they look at many pages].

What's next?

While I was in Paris for the month of June 2007, I made tons and tons of notes and took plenty of photos, all with a view to adding this information to this website, to help even MORE people - and you already know I love to help others!

They even help you find the perfect topic for your website, how to build it, how to get traffic to it, and then they even teach you how to make money with it, no matter what it's about!

So - how do I make money?

At the moment mostly with advertising. You probably noticed the links throughout the website which say "Ads by Goooogle". Every time someone is interested and clicks on one, I make money.  Admittedly the clicks might only be for a few cents, but with a lot of website traffic, that can turn into a few dollars a day.

(Important: please don't click on any of these ads unless you are genuinely interested in them. You are creating costs for the advertisers and that wouldn't be fair.)

By following the step-by-step Guide, I knew when it was time to add a small amount of advertising to my site, and yes, I've started to receive an income from my site. So far it's just pennies, but if I continue to follow the Guide to the letter, I'm hoping that in a few more months I'll be able to report that the income is more than that. Stay tuned!
