History of Valentines Day
When I was around 12 or 13 I didn't wonder about the history of Valentines Day, I just felt nervous before, during and after February 14th in case someone gave or sent me a Valentine's Day Card. It was always such a stressful time until the first card arrived. :-)
As I got older the true meaning of Valentine's Day became clearer - it is the one special day to spend with your boyfriend, girlfriend, partner or loved one.
Over the years chocolate and flowers became a fairly common gift, and a romantic dinner was always a VERY good idea. :-)
Looking for Valentines Day ideas?
Maybe you'd like to take your sweetie to a romantic restaurant in Paris, or how about a fabulous horse-drawn coach ride? Now THAT'S romantic :-)
While it's still cold, iceskating together could be a lot of fun, or a night cruise or tour.
How about a romantic night of fine arts, wine, a gourmet dinner in a XVIII century mansion? It's every Thursday, but unfortunately not on Feb 14th in 2008. Visit the Orsasy museum, and then you will be taken to the nearby "Maison des Polytechnicians" - a magnificent XVIII century mansion to enjoy a gourmet dinner. The menu includes a glass of Champagne, entree, main course, dessert, a bottle of Bordeaux wine for 2 people, mineral water and coffee.

For Paris Valentines on a budget
If your budget is really tight, why not create your own romantic picnic? Stroll together to a local market and buy all the goodies you'll need to eat and drink, then find somewhere in a park or by the River Seine to feast on your yummy French treats. Romance doesn't have to be expensive - it's the thought that counts and that you're both in Paris!
Enjoy!!
