French Film Festival in Sydney

2nd March to 21st March, 2010

Last night I attended Opening Night at the French Film Festival in Sydney and what a night it was!

The French Film Festival in Sydney started on Tuesday 2nd March 2010

The French Film Festival was launched in 3 locations across Sydney, and the one I attended was at the Palace Cinema in Leichhardt (in Sydney’s inner west). Opened by the head of Alliance Francaise Sydney, (and what a character he is) – a wonderful sense of humour which had us all laughing non-stop.

Here’s my quick video review:

The movie which opened the Film Festival was “LOL” – which in texting and short messages (SMS) means Laughing Out Loud, but also was the nickname of the film’s teenage female star.

The actors all did an amazing job, and the film portrayed the often tricky life of a teenager – part adult, part child – and all the problems with modern life for a 17 year old girl.

Lol’s mother was played by actress Sophie Marceau, and what a fine job she did as the freshly divorced mother of 4, still finding her own way through the minefield of life.

So the French Film Festival has started with a great movie, and there are plenty more to come.

Sydney’s very lucky to have so many international film festivals, and the Sydney-siders flock in the thousands to view the great films from overseas.
