December in Paris

December in Paris tree and lights

Aaaah, the crisp air, the memory of summer long gone, thoughts of Christmas and December in Paris ... the aroma of chestnuts being roasted by street vendors ...

This is one of my favourite times in Paris, when strangers share goodwill and the warmth of everyone is tangible in their smiles and good wishes

Make sure you're one of those people who says Merry Christmas and Joyeux Noel to people you pass in the street - go on, spread the cheer, tell someone they look fabulous, make someone's day :-)

Remember - this time of year isn't about gifts and spending money, it's about sharing quality time with friends, family and workmates, to celebrate goodwill amongst all nations, and to have a happy time.

I found this is the time when neighbours will chat with you happily even though you're both normally too busy during the year.  The French are a friendly bunch once you make the effort to unde4rstand each other's customs.  Why not tell a French person about how you normally celebrate Christmas in your country?

  • Where to eat & sleep on 5th December 2009?
    Bina of UK - November 29, 2009, 1:57 am
    Hi Teena,

it is our 25th Wedding anniversary and i want to whisk my husband away to Paris for the night from London. We arrive around 4.30 pm on the 5th of December and will have to leave Paris around 11 am on the 6th of December. Any suggestions you can give me on hotels in the centre of town, restaurants and night tours will be great. Thanks very much.

    Happy Anniversary Bina and husband!

    Hi there Bina,

How exciting and romantic, a wedding anniversary in Paris!

Although I'm not a travel agent (who would need to know your budget, your preferences for location, likes and dislikes etc), I'm not able to give you specifics for your one-night holiday but I am very happy to provide a few links which may help.

    Accommodation

I've used the hotel search engine on my website (link is in the menu at top of page), putting in the date of 5th December - click this link for the results, sort the results by price, district, proximity to any particular landmark etc:

    Hotels available 5th Dec, 2009.

    Restaurants in Paris

There are hundred of restaurants in Paris, and I have a few listed on my website, but again I have no idea of your budget. May I suggest that as soon as you make your hotel reservation you ask the Concierge for a restaurant recommendation. As you have less than 24 hours in Paris, you may wish to stay close to your hotel. If not, here are some pages for you to look at:

My favourite restaurant in the 11th arrondissement:
    Le Petit Manger - 75011

    A list of Brasseries (bistros)

    Tours at night in Paris

There are so many tours in Paris, it will depend on what you'd like to do - horse-drawn carriage ride, dinner cruise on the River Seine, dinner atop the Eiffel Tower. Maybe you'd like to go to a cabaret or nightclub? The following link will give you a few suggestions.

    Things to do in Paris

I hope this helps. You'll be in Paris in less than a week, and don't have much time to make your arrangements - good luck!!

PS - let me know how you get on, you can pop back to this page and click the ADD A COMMENT link to tell me about your fabulous trip to Paris!

    Have a marvellouow time!
    Cheers
    Teena
