Australian Restaurants in Paris

by Annie
(Gold Coast, NSW, Australia)

I have travelled many times to Paris (I am originally a POM! so just a hop skip and jump over the channel!) - though the last time was 3 years ago and totally children fed - Paris Disneyland!

During my honeymoon there in 1992, my husband and I chanced upon a restaurant called Wooloomooloo near the Bastille - which is apparently the only Australian Restaurant in Paris {and I know you're Australian}.

Perhaps this little snippet may be of use, maybe not.

RESPONSE to Wooloomooloo Restaurant near Bastille in Paris

Annie!

How lovely of you to let us know about an Australian restaurant in Paris which you enjoyed.

I've done some research and it seems that the Wooloomooloo was a bit before its time, and eventually closed. Wooloomooloo was diagonally opposite where the Bennelong now stands (another Australian restaurant}. Wooloomooloo was evidently roomy and white, but it never quite worked as a restaurant (according to the reports online) - it's now a trendy cafe called Baz-art.

Certainly sounds like it was worth a visit to Benelong in 2001-2, but not sure if it's still open. If it is, say hello to the owner, Australian Mr Bruneteau.
